A PLANET is said to be in Vakra, as readers may know, when it is having retrograde motion. Retrograde planets are said to be Saktha and the rule is, that Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, Mars and Saturn, the five non-luminous planets (Sun and Moon being luminaries) are strong when retrograde.

The next important rule, to be remembered is, that Subhas (benefics), when retrograde, give kingdom and health, but Papis (malefics) when retrograde, cause evil (Jathaka Tathwa).
