As we wrap the year 2020, let us recall some of the key events that took place. The year 2020 has been shadowed with the clouds of Coronavirus; devastating cyclones and floods sweeping states of Telangana, Assam; communal riots of Delhi; India China stand-off. The year also witnessed the Bhoomi Puja of Rama temple in Ayodhya. As we write, the world awaits to welcome the next President of the USA. Astrologically, the year began with a six planet conjunction in Sagittarius, Jupiter moving to Capricorn (its sign of debilitation) in March, followed with Rahu moving to Taurus, and naturally Ketu to Scorpio. Now in January we are experiencing the Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. It is an extraordinary event owing to the fact that the planets are separated by just one tenth degree, the closest ever since the year 1623!
As you are aware, Jupiter is a benefic planet and Saturn is extremely malefic. When the exact conjunction occurs on 21 January, Saturn and Jupiter will be in Capricorn or Makara - 7 degrees 47 minutes and 34 seconds, in the constellation of Uttarashada ruled by Sun and Meena Navamsa ruled by Jupiter.
