Months ago the BJP took 207 of 294 seats in West Bengal and 82 of 126 in Assam. Five states vote next spring. None of them decides who is Prime Minister, and all of them decide how much authority he has. He will be Prime Minister on 1 January 2027: the government holds, the coalition holds, and no successor process will have begun.
Uttar Pradesh is the one that counts, and its Assembly term ends in May 2027. Yogi Adityanath ji defends that majority, and Sri Modi ji campaigns for it. What is open is not Sri Modi ji's office but how much influence and charisma he carries into that campaign.
That turns on jobs, by a route worth setting out. In India a competitive examination is how a young person without connections reaches a secure career. NEET-UG is the largest of them. On 3 May, 2.27 million candidates sat it. On 12 May it was cancelled, because the paper had leaked.
The response was immediate. The CBI took the case the same day the paper was cancelled. A retest was ordered with no fresh registration and no fresh fee, and every candidate kept their centre. In July the education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, resigned. Charges against protesters were dropped, and the families of students who had taken their own lives were compensated.
So the route closed for 2.27 million people at once, in a year when youth unemployment reached 16.2 per cent in June, the highest in the fifteen months since the monthly series began. The headline rate was 5.5 per cent, which is how the economy could look sound to the government and not to the people sitting that paper.
Nine days after that resignation, the BJP lost Bankipur, a Bihar seat it held, to Prashant Kishor by 18,953 votes, on a turnout of about 34 per cent. Bihar is not Uttar Pradesh, and one by-election settles nothing. It is worth reading because the seat was safe, the margin was wide, and the party responded as though something had changed.
Authority is spent rather than held. The next six months are the bill.
Jupiter and the next six months
Two calendars run through the next six months. One is political. The other is planetary shifts. Every transit below is read from Sri Modi ji's Moon at birth, using the Raman ayanamsa.
The repair window, early to mid September. Mercury enters the eleventh house early in the month and the Sun follows a week later, a sequence that rewards disciplined administrative work over visible credit. This is the last stretch in which the examination file can be settled quietly, and the only question is whether the retest closes without a second leak.
Sri Modi ji turns 76 on 17 September; discount the succession commentary, as no faction is organised enough to act on it. The succession question itself is for a later issue.
Jupiter will pass through the tenth from Sri Modi ji's Moon, late October to early February. This is the long arc of the period, and it sets the price of everything inside it. Exalted Jupiter leaves the ninth house for the tenth in the last week of October, which marks the point where authority becomes expensive to hold. Applications for the UP ticket open in the final week of November, when a campaign stops being talk and becomes machinery, and Mars joins Jupiter in the tenth in the middle of that same month. Those are the most exposed weeks of the six, with the least cover.
The account could be overdrawn in December. Fuel and food prices in India have by then absorbed the disruption in the Middle East, while Jupiter turns retrograde around this time. Either alone is payable. Both at once, with protests still live, is a different sum.
Rahu will transit into the third from Sri Modi ji's horoscope, early January. The ground firms here. Campaigning opens in all five states, though none of the other four carries UP's weight. Rahu favours the front-footed campaigning that the National Democratic Alliance does best. By early February Jupiter is back in exalted Cancer, close to Ketu, which restores legitimacy.

The prediction
So, plainly. Sri Modi ji is Prime Minister on 1 January 2027. October and November will be the hardest weeks of his third term, and December will read worse in the headlines than it is on the ground.
Then it turns. By February, with Jupiter back in exalted Cancer and the ninth house from his Moon, he has protection that restores legitimacy, and he walks into the Uttar Pradesh campaign carrying more than he does today. The grievance that was supposed to shake him will have been settled, in public, on the record, by his own government.
